Kris Allen vs Adam Lambert: who’ll be the next American Idol?

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

So, who’s is going to be? The charming, confident and shy (at the same time!) Kris Allen from Conway Arkansas, or city boy with unbelievable pitch (and emo kid) Adam Lambert? We love what user iheartselena wrote about the exciting American Idol finale on her “Who’ll win American Idol” poll:

“So I would say: if American Idol was a singing competition, and was judged strictly based on vocal and performance abilities, Adam Lambert would take it without a doubt. but since it isn’t, since teenage girls are really the deciding factor, Kris Allen might win.” - read the rest of her analysis on her poll intro.

In preparation for the big finale, go vote on iheartselena’s American Idol poll, and check out all of the American Idol polls. Here are some of our favorites:

Do you really believe Adam Lambert was in the bottom three?

Why do you watch American Idol?

Will you be voting for American Idol this season?

Could American Idol exist without Simon Cowell?

It’s raining new features, hallelujah!

People who think like me

We’ve just launched two major changes on Pollsb. The first is a new “Answer Me” box on the homepage, that shows you which people vote like you. It’ll make it way easier to find people you share opinions with, and hopefully match you up with the right Pollsb crowd. It’s just the first from a list of cool features we’re planning for that box on the homepage. Let’s just say, it’s going to be your ticket for the Pollsb ride. We’ve also cleaned up the homepage a bit and made it more neat and organized.

Another big (huge!) change is our new user page which was completely redesigned, and includes a set of profile questions for each user to fill out. Questions range from “Do you Smoke?” to “Do you believe in god?” and are awesome ways to let other people know more about you. We’ll be adding/switching questions as we go along. In the future, we’re going to do some pretty cool stuff with your answers to these questions and how they relate to your opinions… but we’re still keeping these plans hush-hush. Another great big change is an “Answer Me” box on your user page, that allows visitors to answer all of your questions right there on your page.

Still here? What are you waiting for? Go fix your new user page!

How healthy is your breakfast?

Monday, January 5th, 2009

By now, if you’ve been using Pollsb, you’re probably aware of the magic of the “Am I” pages: a quick way to ask a question about yourself without having to type anything: just insert a picture and go. At the office, we’ve got loads of ideas on future “Am I” pages, and are planning to launch a new one every week.

Our first new “Am I” page for 2009 is Is my breakfast healthy? in which we invite you to snap a quick picture of your breakfast, upload it, and let people tell you whether you’re a health nut, or cruising down the highway to strokeville. Try out breakfast test out, then go vote on other people’s breakfasts, and if you have a great idea for an “Am I” page, leave a comment on this post, and let us know. We just might use it.

Are you a Vampire?

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Am I a vampire?

Until now, there was only one way of knowing if you’re a vampire or not: you’d have to be positive on a number of factors: a need to drink human blood, a love for everything black, pale skin, fangs, problems with sunlight etc…

But now, in spirit of Twilight madness season, we’ve got a better way for you to find out if you’re a vampire or not. Just take a fierce photo of yourself, go to our new Am I a Vampire page, upload it, and get a quick response from all the other vampires running around on Pollsb. Much better than trying to drink blood only to find out it tastes like rusty metal, right?

Sarah Palin polls digest

Sarah Palin RNC

The time for the US presidential election nears, and numerous polls are posted daily on Polls Boutique regarding the latest development in the presidential political race. This past week, the political polls centered on the latest development in the McCain campaign: the nomination of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as Vice President. Here’s a selection of Sarah Palin polls:

Officeshrew asks on August 29, right after the anouncement: “Sarah Palin - Good choice or bad?

Grumpz expands on the point and asks: “Whose VP would you be most comfortable with as President?

Gigi posts a video interview with Sarah Palin and polls to see what people thought of her answers.

Modelchaser mockingly asks whether Sarah Palin is a VPilf (and most people believe she is.)

Fiona chose to include Diddy’s video blog on her poll, and ask whether people agreed with Diddy (who’s an Obama supporter.)

Modelchaser found some old black and white photo and claims it was Sarah Palin naked. He asks whether we believe him.

Philgtaylor catches the news (on Sept. 2) that Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant, and wonders if that says anything about Satah Palin’s vocal support of abstinence education programs (poll here).

With Bristol Palin in the spotlight, Officeshrew quotes Obama who says candidates’ families are off-limits, especially their children. She asks whether Polls Boutique users can find it in themselves to leave Palin’s family out of the discussion.

Bmccue7 polls on Sarah Palin’s opinions: Pro-life, Stem-cell research ban, and Creationism.

Johnson asks whether Troopergate, a recent controversy in Alaska involving Gov. Palin, will hurt the Republican effort.

Politicass brings a political theory to the table predicting Sarah Palin will withdraw her VP nomination in order to clear the way for McCain’s real candidate.

The most recent Sarah Palin poll, posted today, includes a video of her RNC speech, and asks the voters to evaluate her public speaking ability.

Pro Guitar Hero teen: winner or loser?

blake pheebs

Would you let your children drop out of public school to competitively play Video Games? If you have no children, would you expect your parents to support such a decision?

For those unfamiliar with the story of Blake Peebles, here is the short summary: 16 year old plays Guitar Hero, gets really good, wins prizes in various competitions, contemplates dropping out of High School for competitive gaming, his parents support his decision of his new found gaming career choice.

For those that play video games, this sounds like a beautiful Cinderella story, but is it all that it’s cracked out to be?

Competitive gaming is a growing trend by itself, and players can earn as much as $80,000 a year, but those are a few and are in need of rare granted sponsorships. For others, they can make an average of $25,000 a year with a lot of traveling, accomodations and daily needs eating into that salary.

We are not ignoring the actual problem of education…what about the children’s studies? Well, Blake’s parents did not give up on that, he is simply receiving home studies and actually improved his grades along with practice time alotted for gaming.

This particular poll received thousands of votes, along with many comments that varied from complete and utter support of Blake and his dream to disbelief and anger at such a “stupid” decision. It seems that people equal video games with stupidity. Is that so? That would have to be determined by another intriguing poll…next time.

New buddy icon Feature

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

We are proud to introduce a brand new feature here at pollsb: it’s a way to see the people who voted on a poll, before even voting on it! It’ll help you follow your friends around the site, see who votes on what, and who’s active at the moment. Yep, all that without even having to visit the results page. Isn’t that cool? Here’s how it looks:

Do you like it? Vote on our poll.
