Our flash poll widget

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

We’re extremely proud to unveil the Pollsb flash poll widget. We’ve taken our time with this one. We’ve designed it, the redesigned it, we’ve added options that carry most of pollsb’s features (like social polling capabilities) into it, and we believe it’s the best poll widget out there. Our flash poll widget will work in practically every social network, blogging platform and other web service out there. It’s light, and easy on the eyes, and as usual, supports images, video, audio, links, comments and more.

It’s a thing of beauty. Take a look:

You can grab a flash widget from the “invite” screen, or from our poll widget page.

Find your match on Pollsb

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

We’ve been busy playing matchmakers recently on Pollsb.

The idea: you vote, and we match you with others who share your opinions, displaying the percentage in which you match (based on recent votes you two have in common).

It’s important to remember: the way our opinions based matching mechanism works, The more you vote, the more meaningful the matching stats become. So keep voting for a while to find people who have a lot in common with you.

Find your opinion matches now: Log in to Pollsb, and start voting.

Marilyn Manson is Bald!

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Someone just rocked the entire Pollsb office here with this piece of video, proving without a shred of a doubt that shock rocker Marilyn Manson (some people in the office are big fans) is BALD. That’s right. The whole goth, super-straight hair thing, is just a clever wig.

In this video, Marilyn Manson is exposed in all his baldness when an insistent fan keeps yelling at him, asking to come and shake his hand. At first, Manson’s bodyguard’s keep the fan out of the star’s reach, but finally Marilyn agrees, and puts his hand out to shake the fan’s hand. The man the hugs Marilyn, and accidentally causes the star’s wig to fall down from his head. He’s immediately  reprimanded by Manson’s bodyguards, while Manson is being escorted away, his completely bald head shielded by someone’s coat. The video then replays and slows down to show the concrete evidence: Marilyn Manson is bald.

Here’s the incriminating video:

And here’s the original poll, and how we learned about this:

Five religious leaders stuck in a room. Moses speaks first.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Dr. Cliff PickoverA poll conducted by Dr. Cliff Pickover illustrates that if the world’s five religious leaders (Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Confucius, and Mohammad) were in a room together, Moses would be the first to speak.

The poll was conducted on Polls Boutique asking: “If Jesus, Moses, Mohammad, Buddha, and Confucius were gathered in a room, who would be the first to speak? What would he say?”.

Over 400 respondents answered and placed Moses in first place with a third of the total votes, and Buddha coming in last place. It seems individuals have placed the religious from Eastern countries as more reserved, and the Western world as outspoken.

Results were as follows: Moses – 33%, Mohammad – 27%, Jesus – 21%, Confucius – 11%, and Buddha – 8%.

Dr. Cliff Pickover is a best-selling author of over 30 books in science, mathematics, and self-help.  He is an associate editor, editorial board member, and columnist for separate Science and Computers magazines, and is also a member in the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center.

Full results, stats, and poll can be found at the original poll.

How to post a poll on your blog

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Post number two is going to be all about our new poll widget that allows you to post a poll on your blog or website. Polls Boutique’s widget, just released, is fully customizable and allows you add any kind of media to it, and even put your own picture as a background.

But I know some of you are asking, hey – but what’s a widget anyway?

A: A widget is a way to take a piece of one site- say, polls boutique, and place it somewhere else, like a blog or social network profile. Our widget lets you take your polls boutique polls and place them on other sites. It was built with blogs in mind, and we’re currently working on widgets for Social networks and other web platforms.

Posting a poll on your blog doesn’t have to be difficult. All you have to do is post a poll on pollsb.com, click on the white share button on the bottom left of the poll, and copy the embed code.

You can then paste the code on blogging platforms such as Blogger, Typead and Wordpress, and voila! You have yourself a poll.

Here’s a basic poll widget generated using pollsb.com:

If you wish to customize the poll, change the color scheme and make it match your design, click on the white share button, and then click “Customize Your Own Widget”. You’ll find yourself in our poll customization area. Once there, you can choose any color you’d like, define a new font, and even put a picture as a background. When you’re done customizing, just click “create” and get the widget code to take with you.

Here’s an example of a fully customized picture poll widget:

And here’s a video poll widget:

Posting a poll on your blog is a great way to interact with your audience, to ask them something, get feedback, and generate news in the form of results. Give it a try.
