Had to post this ingenious video poll. A really good example of the fun things one can do on polls boutique using our video poll widget. Featured in this video poll is the second video game ever invented (right after pong) a sort of tennis game played on a wave spectrum device:

Why create a poll for your blog?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

It’s no secret that we’re trying to evangelize bloggers into using polls on their blog posts. And when we speak with bloggers about this, most of them understand the strength of a poll as a form of communication with your audience. But for the sake of those who don’t, here’s why posting poll on your blog makes sense:

1. Like blog comments, polls are a great way to add a level of interaction to your blog posts. Posting a poll on your blog is like asking your readers a question, conversing with them, getting their opinions. This is what makes good blogs great: they listen to their audience, they learn what their audience wants, and they follow up on it.

2. Polls are great for blogs because they produce additional content. As a blogger with a poll, you not only produce content in terms of your writing, but you also have your poll results to enhance your understanding of the covered subject. When a critical mass of people vote on your poll, you can update your post with the results, adding high quality content to your writing.

3. Polls are perfect as feedback tools. Redesigned your blog? Made a new video and have two versions to pick from? Have two versions of some song and want your readers to tell you which one is better? Use a poll!

4. Polls can help you market your blog. Every poll posted on Polls Boutique, is enjoyed not only on your blog as a poll widget but also on pollsb.com, by a community of many thousands of voters and pollsters who can dig your stuff and follow your poll to your blog. Make sure your add links to your polls and invite your voters to go read the post you wrote.

Post number two is going to be all about our new poll widget that allows you to post a poll on your blog or website. Polls Boutique’s widget, just released, is fully customizable and allows you add any kind of media to it, and even put your own picture as a background.

But I know some of you are asking, hey - but what’s a widget anyway?

A: A widget is a way to take a piece of one site- say, polls boutique, and place it somewhere else, like a blog or social network profile. Our widget lets you take your polls boutique polls and place them on other sites. It was built with blogs in mind, and we’re currently working on widgets for Social networks and other web platforms.

Posting a poll on your blog doesn’t have to be difficult. All you have to do is post a poll on pollsb.com, click on the white share button on the bottom left of the poll, and copy the embed code.

You can then paste the code on blogging platforms such as Blogger, Typead and Wordpress, and voila! You have yourself a poll.

Here’s a basic poll widget generated using pollsb.com:

If you wish to customize the poll, change the color scheme and make it match your design, click on the white share button, and then click “Customize Your Own Widget”. You’ll find yourself in our poll customization area. Once there, you can choose any color you’d like, define a new font, and even put a picture as a background. When you’re done customizing, just click “create” and get the widget code to take with you.

Here’s an example of a fully customized picture poll widget:
