Pollsb’s Spirit

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

It’s crunch time here. Will the team make it with a ready for QA homepage on Thursday?  Who will win the office pool? (we placed bets on the date in which the new homepage will be ready). In the meantime, here’s another great homepage feature: the Pollsb spirit:

Spirit

The spirit section is a graphical interpretation of the most discussed topics of that week on Pollsb. So, for example, the more political polls get posted, the bigger the politics chunk of the pie chart will be. The drop down menu will also allow you to see the pie chart for different demographics of the general voter population on Pollsb. It’ll show you the most dominant age group in the site, as well as where most voters come from, and what’s the gender segmentation for any given week.

Operation Homepage

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

We’ve been secretive about it, but the rumors are true: Pollsb is about to refresh its front page with a whole new look and feel.

Some major changes include moving to a larger screen resolution of 1024×768, featuring results as well as polls, and adding a feed box with updates on your polls, comments, and friends.

People here at the office have already began playing with this beast of a page, testing it out and debugging. We have Thursday set as a possible launch date. So this week at Pollsb HQ, is all about the homepage: design, functionality, bugs, and interface.

I’m going to post updates as the week progresses, and try and get as much feedback from pollsb users as I can. to start, here’s a sneak preview of the new design (click on the thumbnail to enlarge the image). I’d love to hear some first impressions. Just message me on the site with your input, or leave a comment here.
